Premi Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert d'Arts Visuals 2024

The City Council of Palma announces the Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert Visual Arts Award 2024, with the aim of supporting contemporary artistic creation, contributing to the dynamism of the visual arts sector and recognising the work carried out by creators.

 
The total number of works submitted was 816 works by 357 participants. The jury has met and selected the work of 10 artists: María Alcaide, Anna Dot, Abel Jaramillo, Alejandro Javaloyas, Biel Llinàs, Pepe Miralles, Santiago Morilla, Stella Rahola Matutes, TXP (Todo por la Praxis) y Marc Vives.

The 10 finalist works will form the exhibition of the Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert Visual Arts Award 2024, which will be inaugurated on 20 January 2025 and will be open until the 9 of March 2025. The prize will be given on the same day, festivity of San Sebastián.

The jury was made up of Eva Lootz, winner of the 1994 National Prize for Plastic Arts, the 2010 MAV Prize for Women in the Visual Arts and the 2022 Community of Madrid Prize for Plastic Arts; Jordi Pallarés, researcher and independent curator, founding member of Taula (Association of Cultural Mediators of Mallorca) and president of INDAGUE (Spanish Association for the Research and Diffusion of Graffiti and Urban Art), and Magdalena Aguiló, independent curator and current president of the Association of Critics and Commissioners of the Balearic Islands (ACCAIB), who has also been director of the Fundació Miró Mallorca (2004-2011) and deputy director of the Centre de Cultura Sa Nostra (1989-2003).
