Quino en la música

On the 70th anniversary of the publication of his first cartoon as a professional cartoonist and on the 60th anniversary of the creation of the mythical Mafalda, the exhibition Quino en la música celebrates as never before the legacy of Joaquín Lavado, the most celebrated cartoonist in Ibero-America.

With more than one hundred originals on display, curated by Judith Gociol and Guillermo Lavado, musician and nephew of Quino, the exhibition proposes a journey through the author’s passion: his gentle but forceful obsession with music, with comedy and reflections generated from the creation, execution (good or bad) and experiences made possible by one of the powerful arts.

Quino is the creator of the popular strip Mafalda, an emotional epicenter of many generations. Outside the famous character and his world, he was responsible for a work like few others on the planet, for its artistic quality and also for, as Joan Manuel Serrat would say, “his concern for reality and what was happening”. Both playful universes dance in the exhibition, making clear how music has been a permanent part of Quino’s preoccupations.
  
The exhibition is a unique opportunity: the first time in years that Quino’s originals are exhibited to the public. Then, all that remains is to lose oneself in the pictorial pentagrams of one of the most astute and humane creators of modern reflections in the Spanish-speaking world. Music, master Quino.

The exhibition Quino en la música is part of the program of the Comic Nostrum Festival organized by the Clúster de Còmic i Nous Media de Mallorca.

Illustrated concert with the Simfovents Municipal Band

Friday 15 November at 7 pm - Can Balaguer

The Municipal Band will perform a repertoire based on the musical influences of the artist Joaquin Lavado, better known as Quino. The repertoire will be accompanied by live illustrations by artists Marta Masana and Pato Conde in tribute to the artist.

Guided tour + Workshop "Design of Album covers"

Saturday 16 November from 11 am to 1 pm - Casal Solleric

By Claudia Balaguer, illustrator. Workshop focused on designing fictitious album covers or reinterpreting famous covers, using the comic style. Participants will work on how to transmit the spirit of an album through the graphic image.

Musicated visit to the Quino exhibition in music

Saturday 30/11 at 11 am - Casal Solleric

Musical tour by the mediator and musician Rosario Rivera where we can enjoy the musical interventions of Marc Alomar, cellist and Guillermo Femenias, guitarist who will perform a repertoire inspired by the universe of Quino.

This repertoire, selected for the occasion, includes pieces by Piazzola, The Beatles, Mozart and Boccherini, among others, with direct reference to the musical influences found in the artist’s drawings.

Workshop "Tires d'Humor Gràfic i Música"

By Marta Masana, illustrator. Creation of comic strips of graphic humor where music is the central theme. Ideal for exploring comical situations around concerts, music classes or everyday life related to music.
