The City Council of Palma announces the Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert Visual Arts Award 2023, with the aim of supporting contemporary artistic creation, contributing to the dynamism of the visual arts sector and recognising the work carried out by creators.

 
The total number of works submitted was 869 works by 386 participants. The jury formed by Ángela de la Cruz, winner of the 2017 National Prize for Plastic Arts and nominated for the Turner Prize in 2010, Diana Padrón Alonso, researcher, teacher and independent curator, Iñaki Martínez Antelo, curator and cultural manager who was director of MARCO, Museum of Contemporary Art in Vigo, has met and selected the work of 10 artists: Marc Larré, Mar Guerrero, Lara Fluxà, Fuentesal Arenillas, Joana Cera, Fermín Jiménez Landa, Rosell Meseguer, Christian Lagata, Micha Bies Golas and Blanca Gracia.


The 10 finalist works will form the exhibition of the Ciutat de Palma Antoni Gelabert Visual Arts Award 2023, which will be inaugurated on 20 January 2024 and will be open until the 10 of March 2024. The prize will be given on the same day, festivity of San Sebastián.

 

The winning artist of this edition of the award has been Lara Fluxà with the work titled ARVA (2023).
